Ted Cruz Announces Constitutional Amendment To Drain Washington Swamp For Good

Donald Trump promised it – now his Senate attack dog is delivering it.

With Democrats taking over the House this year, the D.C. swamp is worse than ever.

Nancy Pelosi is the poster child for power-hungry politicians. She’s even claiming to drain the Washington Swamp – with liberal policies like public campaign financing and anti-voter ID laws to keep Democrats in power.

But finally we are seeing a precious few lawmakers trying to bring an end to the Democrats’ tyranny.

Ted Cruz is introducing a new amendment to our Constitution, and it’s exactly what President Trump promised the American people.

From Ted Cruz:

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.) today introduced an amendment to the U.S. Constitution to impose term limits on members of Congress.

The amendment would limit U.S. senators to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives to three two-year terms…

“Term limits on members of Congress offer a solution to the brokenness we see in Washington, D.C. It is long past time for Congress to hold itself accountable. I urge my colleagues to submit this constitutional amendment to the states for speedy ratification.”

The purpose of our three-branch, democratic government is to limit the power of our leaders.

Senators and representatives were never meant to rule for life. They were meant to run for a few terms, contribute to our country, then retire.

If they got too much power, it was the job of the people to elect someone new.

But today, Nancy Pelosi can run forever. She has been in Washington for decades. Clearly, this elderly woman should have shuffled off by now.

We imposed term limits on the White House after Democrat FDR held the office for a whopping 4 terms.

Yet Congress refuses to limit its own powers because they’d lose too much.

Many of Washington’s problems are because politicians are always fighting for more money and payoffs from special interests.

But if there were term limits, that wouldn’t matter. After two or three terms, they’d be forced out.

Sounds good to me!
