After CNN contributor Kate Andersen Brower recently accused First Lady Melania Trump of failing to comprehend “what it means to be First Lady,” Melania’s communications director Stephanie Grisham fired back, issuing a scathing response.
“Of course, absurdity abounds in the media’s coverage of our First Lady,” said Grisham, who called Brower’s remarks an “unnecessary attack,” and said the CNN contributor and others had “intentionally” ignored Melania’s efforts while focusing on negative coverage.
Grisham denounced the continued focus “on the trivial and superficial, rather than the deeper issues facing our country that [Melania] has tirelessly worked to address.”

Melania’s spokeswoman said that, as First Lady, she “will continue to demonstrate her commitment to helping children and advancing the causes she is passionate about,” and noted that “her strength, individuality, and integrity should be celebrated.”
“Hopefully, the media will eventually learn to celebrate a woman who, through all the noise, is able to hold steadfast to her mission and stay true to herself,” Grisham said.
Closing her statement, Grisham added that “Regardless, Melania Trump is proud to be the First Lady of the United States, and is proud to represent the American people.”
