California Democratic Senator Kamala Harris has made news headlines recently with an announcement that she intends to run for president in 2020 against President Trump.
Harris has been making comments that she believes she can flip the state of South Carolina from Republican to Democrat in the 2020 election, despite President Trump winning the state by 9 points in 2016 and Republicans holding on to all seven statewide offices during the 2018 midterm elections.
Retired South Carolina congressman Trey Gowdy sopped by Fox & Friends Tuesday morning to give his take on Harris’ wacky prediction.
“Not the one I live in, unless there are two South Carolinas, no. This is Tim Scott, Lindsey Graham country. This is not Kamala Harris, [Alexendria Ocassio-Cortez] territory.”
Republican party chairman Drew McKissick of South Carolina echoed Gowdy’s comments.
“We have complete autonomy and flexibility in either direction. Considering the fact that the entire party supports the president, we’ll end up doing what’s in the president’s best interest.”
This doesn’t sound like a state that Kamala Harris could win no matter how much money she poured into it.
